How to Estimate Secrets AI Text-to-Speech Costs Before Listening

Secrets AI's speaker button converts a chat reply to audio. Its current help lists 10 Moments for each started 100-character block of the final enhanced text, with a 20-character minimum. Count the reply, round up, and compare the estimate with your available balance before pressing play. Live audio calls use a different per-minute rate.

Before you start: identify the audio action

Use this guide for the speaker button on a written reply, not for a microphone call.

The Secrets chat-features guide documents a speaker button that reads a message aloud. Its audio-call guide describes microphone calls billed by time. Identify which control you will use before estimating cost.

You need a fictional or otherwise harmless reply, the account's Moment balance and the current official rate. The official help pages were checked September 30, 2026; we did not operate a paid account or measure an actual debit.

Step 1: confirm the current rate and your balance

Read the current TTS rate first, then note the displayed Moment balance before playback.

The chat guide lists 10 Moments per 100 characters and a 20-character minimum. The Moments and Payments guide says the top-navigation balance can combine purchased Moments and subscription grants. Note the balance and date privately. Check the account display before spending.

Expected result: you know the unit, minimum and available total. If the current interface shows a different price, a warning or no balance, do not guess. Stop before pressing the speaker button and use official help or support to clarify it.

Step 2: count the final reply, not your prompt

The charge basis is the message that will be spoken, including additions to its final enhanced text.

Count the companion's reply. The official guide says final enhanced text and AI-added audio tags also count. A visible count may therefore be an estimate. Use a local editor or offline counter; never move sensitive chat text to an unrelated website.

Expected result: you have a sensible length estimate and know why an exact charge might differ. A 19-character reply is below the documented minimum, so do not assume the speaker will accept it.

Step 3: round up by 100-character blocks

For an eligible reply, estimate Moments as 10 multiplied by the number of started 100-character blocks.

For example, 85 characters fit in one block and estimate 10 Moments. A 135-character reply spans two blocks and estimates 20. A 301-character reply spans four blocks and estimates 40. These are arithmetic examples using the documented rate, not billed account tests; enhancement tags or a changed rate can alter the real debit.

If you cannot see the text length or the interface gives a conflicting quote, do not buy more Moments to remove the uncertainty.

Illustrative reply lengthStarted blocksEstimated Moments
85 characters110
135 characters220
301 characters440

Step 4: put repeated listening into a monthly budget

Multiply the estimate per clip by the number of clips you expect to use, then stop at your own ceiling.

Ten 135-character clips estimate 200 Moments: two blocks per clip, 20 each. This is planning arithmetic, not a purchase quote. For occasional playback, set a small allowance.

The provider's Moments guide distinguishes purchased Top-Up Moments from monthly subscription grants. It says unused grants do not roll over but purchased Moments remain. It also says a paid Premium or Ultimate subscription is required to buy a top-up. Those are different constraints: a balance that exists does not automatically mean a purchase is available on the Free tier.

Step 5: separate speaker playback from a live call

Estimate a live call by minutes, not characters, and check the microphone implications separately.

The dedicated audio-call guide lists 50 Moments per minute. A hypothetical three-minute call estimates 150 Moments; actual duration and the account screen matter. This is not the speaker's character rate. Older quickstart summaries may differ, so use the dedicated feature guide and current account notice.

A call uses a microphone. The provider says it transcribes call audio and keeps the transcript, while deleting the audio immediately; that is its stated practice, not an independent audit. Before enabling any microphone permission, decide whether a live call is worth the additional privacy exposure and recurring cost.

Step 6: run an optional controlled balance check

Spend only if you already have Moments and are comfortable with one short fictional clip.

Note your balance, choose an eligible short reply and estimate cost. Press the speaker once and check the balance again. Record the numbers, length and date privately, without saving intimate content. One matching debit does not prove every future reply or tier behaves identically.

Expected result: either one clip plays and the balance change is understandable, or you have a concrete discrepancy. If playback fails, do not tap repeatedly while uncertain whether a debit occurred. Check the balance and current help first.

Step 7: resolve an unexplained debit without exposing chat text

Describe the billing event with numbers and times, not a private transcript.

Check whether a grant reset, another paid media action or a changed balance explains the difference. The Moments guide says the total can fall when unused grants reset; that is not automatically a speaker charge. Keep a redacted receipt or account transaction reference, the date and time zone, the before and after balance and the approximate reply length. Do not share a password, full card number or intimate conversation with an unofficial support account.

Expected result: you can ask official support a narrow question such as whether one speaker action charged more than the current published rate. If the answer remains unclear, stop using paid audio rather than topping up reflexively. The FTC's app privacy guidance also supports checking which permissions and data you share with a service.

Finish with a text, speaker or call decision

Use text when audio is optional, the speaker for short known clips, and live calls only when minutes and privacy are worth it.

Before upgrading, inspect the selected plan's full charge, included monthly grants, renewal, cancellation and what happens to purchased Moments. A subscription's grant size is not a dollar price per clip. Compare chat, memory, media, privacy, price and cancellation rather than buying solely because one demonstration sounded good.

Stop if the current rate conflicts with official help, you cannot tell which balance bucket will be used, or a failed playback may have been charged. Keep the question specific for official support. No affiliate visit is required to do these calculations or to choose text instead.

Sources and review note

These primary sources support the workflow or risk framing. Product features, prices and regional availability should still be checked on the official provider page before payment.

Frequently asked questions

Does Secrets AI TTS use the length of my prompt or the companion reply?

The official chat guide bases TTS on the final enhanced reply text, including audio tags the AI adds. Your prompt length is not the documented billing unit.

Is the speaker button the same as a Secrets AI audio call?

No. The documented speaker action is priced by reply characters; a live microphone call is priced by minutes. Check the current feature screen before either action.

Will playing a saved clip again be free?

The cited official guidance does not establish a free replay rule. Check the account's current notice and balance before repeating an action that may consume Moments.

What should I send support about a surprising TTS charge?

Send the date, approximate reply length, rate shown and redacted before-and-after balances. Do not send your password, full card number or intimate chat unless official support clearly needs limited evidence.
